Mongolian youth Council

A coalition of diverse non-governmental organizations in Mongolia that protects the rights and interests of youth and ensures pluralism.

ABOUT US

The MONGOLIAN YOUTH COUNCIL NGO (MYC) is an umbrella organization for Mongolian youth civil society, founded in 2014 by young civil society activists to spread the common goals, values, and principles of multi-stakeholder non-governmental organizations in Mongolia that protect the rights and interests of youth and ensure diversity, to make them a reality, to increase the real and intelligent participation of every young person in creating a society that is fair, non-discriminatory, and respects human rights, and to create a society where every young person feels their own dignity
and respects others.

Our Vision

To promote mutual respect and cooperation among youth organizations; strengthen their capacity through shared learning; advance human rights and sustainable development; create safe, inclusive environments for youth growth; and influence social and economic policy.

Our expertise

Mongolian Youth Council promotes youth participation and volunteer development, focusing on environmental action, social and psychological support for marginalized youth, life skills and civic responsibility, and protection of disadvantaged groups. It supports democracy and human rights through advocacy and youth involvement in policy discussions—such as contributions to the 2017 Youth Development Support Law—and educates young people on human rights and equality. The organization also unites diverse youth groups to amplify their voices and encourage collective civic engagement.

Membership

As of 2024, it unites 18 civil society organizations. Its board is elected by the general assembly and includes groups representing LGBT communities, people with disabilities, remote communities, and national minorities. Since 2014, it has organized Youth Civil Society Conferences, contributed to the 2017 Youth Development Support Law, and since 2019 has co-organized the National Youth Development Conference with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
